Yes and it's an amazing restaurant although a little pricey depending on your budget.
I thought the bartender said something about needing to try those. Pretty sure they do.
Hi, yes, we accept both Discover and American Express. There are 2 websites - one for our restaurant - thestinkingrose.com and one for our online products - thestinkingrosestore.com. We do not accept American Express on our online store (gift cards, t-shirts, etc). All the items sold online are also sold at the restaurant (which does accept American Express). =)
Yes. They have a small well stocked bar.
I would call and ask
No, The Stinking Rose in San Francisco does not have a happy hour.
Not at all.
The Stinking Rose had a decor very different than the traditional restaurants. The table setting was almost spooky to some extent. In terms of food, everything had garlic in it, adding to the flavor. The complimentary bread serving was good, which could be paired with garlic pesto sauce. We ordered spinach and cheese fondue, which was baked, not what we were expecting, tasty none the less. Mushroom ravioli tasted great as well.
The clams in garlic soup were very tasty, the spinach cheeses dip was very creamy. The garlic in all the good did not disappoint
If uou love garlic, and who doesn't, this is the place for you. From their signature "Chicken with 30 cloves of garlic" to the genuine Gilroy Garlic ice cream. I don't think there is anything on the menu that doesn't come with garlic. The prices are a bit high, but it is an experience well worth the price. And to top it off, you get to see the worlds longest and heaviest braid of garlic. A sight worth at least half the codt of admission. You gotta try it. You won't regret it.
LOVE this place. Awesome menu. Great service and ambiance. Nothing like this Dungeness crab. Only bad part is that the 2 restaurants are in CA 😜
My wife and I went here for our anniversary and loved it. Food was absolutely perfect. The service was amazing especially for a Saturday night. We even came home and made the dipping recipe(they give it out) the day after we got home.
I go here because I love garlic and the food is amazing 😊 This place is nostalgic. Very worth trying especially if you have never been or are visiting the city. The pastas and chicken dishes are especially delicious. After dinner check out the North Beach area it is like a little Italy. The area has lots of stuff to see if you are visiting.
For the price, the food wasn't that good and not as garlicky as I thought it would be. The whole Dungeness crab was good but it would have been even better with a sauce rather than dry. My partner had the ribeye and it was also rather dry and not very garlicky either. Oh well, at least I can say that my curiosity has been satisfied.
Bread was amazing with their garlic pesto but honestly the food was blah. It's a fun experience, especially if it's your birthday (you get to wear a garlic bulb hat), but otherwise this was just a hyped up garlicky Applebees. I'm glad I got to go once, but it's not somewhere I plan on returning to when I visit SF again.
Garlic. More garlic. Proof that you can never have enough. Rib eye was alright, it was slightly overcooked and not quite medium rare as I asked. But it was still good. The Margherita was pretty damn good. Be sure to order the garlic in olive oil that they offer as an appetizer.
Everything there is about garlic (except the wine). The service was excellent. I got the pizza, and my son got the meatball pasta. All excellent. The bread and the garlic dip was great. We even got the roasted garlic. Yum.
Food was nice but did not like the covered seating. I felt like I am behind closed curtains.
Such a fun place to visit. They have garlic everything including drinks and ice cream.
If you love garlic like I do, you'll love this place. Make sure you make a reservation and arrive early because parking sucks.
Not a bad place, servers were good and efficient but not personable at all. Interesting place to visit as I’ve heard of it before. Glad to have come food was decent atmosphere pretty great
Best Italian food I've ever had. If you're not a garlic lover you may not enjoy it. Everything comes with loads of garlic on it. Very good and big portions. I can't wait to come back
Food is great! Can be pricy, wait times are pretty long. Bring your appetite, but also your patience. It’s definitely worth the wait.
Been coming here for years! The baby back ribs are amazing, the prime rib is to die for, the steamed clams are amazing! Highly recommend this place if you like garlic even a little bit, you won't be disappointed with their food or service.
The best piece of garlic meat and fantastic garlic shrimp with garlic muscles. The dining room we sat in is beautiful and the nook we managed to be seated at was absolutely perfect; super romantic. The service was on point and very courteous... Definitely recommend trying as much as you can fathom eating.
A little disappointed. Heard so many good things but did not meet my high expectations.Nice vibe, nice decor, and good service. The food was fresh but was missing something, just wasn't that good. And the price was ridiculous. Tried it once, no need for seconds...
The food is great, the table service is good and the greeter is very sweet and friendly. The front of house staff however are a bit random. There were 3 people at front the front desk who either had conflicts about process or were just having a power trip. They alone brought this review down as they were condescending and unfriendly. We're from out of town so maybe it's a SF thing?
Fun kitschy ambiance. Delicious food for garlic lovers! The entrees are really big so the value is actually good.
The expectation is a garlic restaurant and they do a great job at de orating the place, but the reality is that the food is quite overpriced and the food is mediocre. It’s all garlic themed if that’s up your alley but for the price point it wasn’t really worth it. Would highly encourage checking a menu before committing to a reservation.
What a fun restaurant! Everything garlic! Great cozy and romantic atmosphere. Gluten-free and vegetarian options. Products and memorabilia available to take home from the entryway "gift shop". Don't forget to finish off your meal with garlic ice cream that is surprisingly delicious!
One of our favorite spots.. We are definitely coming back when we visit.. Thanx for singing happy birthday and putting that garlic hat on my head lmfao 😂
Garlic garlic everywhere! Staff were amazing and friendly, the food is excellent, and if you love garlic you have to check this place out. Everything is great so you can't go wrong, and basically everything has an overload of garlic prepared in every way. You may have lethal breath afterwards but that's a small price to pay for the experience.
I was so excited because I love garlic and work was paying for my meal. I got the 60 dollar ribeye steak and I legit don't think they seasoned it at all. Very bland, I had to add a bunch of salt and pepper to it. Nothing really had much garlic flavor somehow. The only thing that really stood out was the garlic infused oil they put at every table. That was decent. The staff was friendly which was a rare sight in San Francisco. The decor was very cute and fun. This is one I think you can skip however unless your favorite Instagram influencer insists you go here or something.
I love garlic. This Italian oriented restaurant uses garlic in all their dishes and it's exquisite. Everything is delicious. I've been there for 4-5 times, ordering different things off the menu, and was never disappointed. Staff is friendly. Service is quick and accommodating. Portions are very generous. Don't miss the garlic hot tub as a starter!!!
First time of many future visits. This cozy and charming restaurant with lots of history makes you feel like you're part of the family! The food was exquisite and beyond reasonable prices for the taste and quality you receive!! A must visit if you're in North Beach. Thankfully we're locals and will be back!
The food is good but very overpriced. It is a place to just go once in a lifetime for the experience. I wouldn’t go there again.
If you love garlic, this is heaven. Great for a date or special occasion, this cozy yet buzzing restaurant was a fun experience. All of the dishes are flavorful as well.
I absolutely LOVE this restaurant!! Tou have to love garlic, seriously! Everything I've ever had is incredible! Garlic boat is my fave- as long as the bread comes out warm- so ask for that. You honesty cannot go wrong with any dish. So take your pick! The staff is friendly and are very good at checking in on the customers. We booked a table in advance and I would suggest the same, especially for large parties of 6 or more. And don't forget to grab a souvenir!
Loved this place and it lives up to it's name with all the garlic in their dishes. I had pasta and my son had the 40 clove chicken and they were both delicious. Highly recommend.
The steak was good, but I think this place is a little over hyped. Not there fault. Still good.
Food was exceptional but unfortunately our server was MIA for most of the night. I'd be tempted to give it another try because of the food quality. I didn't get the vibe that they are intentionally rude like a "Dicks Last Resort" unless I missed the memo. So I'd say, give it a try and see if your server is more responsive. . . .
I was here twenty years ago, and this place has kept its reputation and excellence. Heart food, even better service, wonderful vibe. Don't miss it!
Absolutely amazing food. If you're afraid it's going to be overwhelmingly garlicky, don't be. They add the perfect amount of garlic to each dish. We shared the medium sized muscles and shrimp with garlic sauce plate as an appetizer between three of us, and then each got a steak, me the ribeye, they the prime rib. It was absolutely excellent. One of them even said their prime rib was better than the House of Prime Rib! Highly recommended.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Not at all the same restaurant as it was years ago. The pizza was garage, worse than Dominos. We also ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, very dry and the taste was bland. Very disappointing. Brought my entire family from Florida and felt like an idiot for recommending this place. ðŸ˜
Absolute must if you're in town. Have to get the garlic appetizer with the bread no matter what. My favorite entree is the shrimp, mussels, and crab combo. Lots of delicious food for a great price and theft definitely won't disappoint on the garlic. Highly recommend!
I had wonderful experience there, excellent food. I love garlic, so discovering this restaurant was mind-blowing, the food was delicious, very elaborated. Loved the place!
Expensive but worth it. All kinds of delicious pasta. The garlic martini had potential but tasted more like pure vodka...
Everything I had was amazing. All their sauces are pretty good (they are garlic based of course). The steak was prepared different from what you usually see. There is no chared crust, but it's high quality and delicious.
Asked where we should eat while visiting San Francisco and this was suggested. Garlic, garlic garlic! If you like garlic, perfect. If not, well...maybe this place isn’t for you. Had the Prime Rib and it didn’t disappoint. Fun place. Would eat here again if in San Francisco again.
Our top 5 date-night spot! (Yes, we like garlic)This is where you go for a great experience. We usually start off with bread and Bagna Calda- garlic soaking in a hot tub, delicious! And you can't go wrong with the skillets, they have many choices.
This was a fun experience. They use 3,000 pounds of garlic a month. Simply put its all about the garlic. Service was good, prices were reasonable. I had the garlic encrusted baby back ribs. My breath still stinks.
Love this city gem! Perfect date night every time. The garlic hat was hilarious... and his birthday dinner was a blast thanks to the staff and the chef!
The food here is pretty good, but it's very thematic. If you don't like garlic, I would stay away. That being said, they have amazing garlic here. I had the Chicken Alfredo and it was truly quite good. Prices are mid-range for San Francisco. I also really loved the candies they gave us after we paid, and they even gave us a box of candies when we left. They treat their patrons very well.
The service was ok. When I went on a Sunday evening it wasn't crowed at all. My server was nice. The food is horrible and over priced. I had spaghetti and meatballs. I could have opened up a can of Campbell's for better flavor. Wasn't even given warm bread at the table. You get some hard cold rolls with not even garlic butter to accompany them. I couldn't even eat all my over priced spaghetti so I had it packed to go. Do you know they don't even have plastic folks!? Go there just to say you have been there but if you want a good meal you're better off going elsewhere.
I have been coming to the Stinking Rose every summer since 2005. It is the best ever. The best! Consistently, they have the best chefs and staff. The food is amazingly great. My kids come here to now. Try the meatloaf. My favorite!
Food was great and the service was very friendly. Can't say I was a huge fan of the garlic ice cream, but it was definitely something new and different. Would definitely recommend visiting if you have a chance.
Very pricey but amazing service. The food is good and comes quickly. I love too go just for the garlic hot tub and drinks!
